Coronation
Tunic and Cape
Edmund's coronation tunic is made up of hose, boots, an undershirt,
a velvet tunic, and a bag-lined cape.
Undershirt, Boots, Hose
The hose are silver white; his almost knee-high
boots are covered in black velvet with what looks like small
pearl buttons running up the side, slit about three inches at
the front, and turned down in that same amount. The material
we can see there is the same silver blue velvet as his tunic.
Edmund's undershirt appears to be a silk satin
in a deep navy color. The sleeves are gathered and set in. The
hem of the shirt comes just to the tunic's hem, so that we can
see it underneath the tunic in some images.
Tunic, Cape
His tunic looks like panné velvet, in a
sea-gray blue color. The collar is a rounded mandarin style,
open in the front, edged in a self-fabric corded tubing.
We haven't had any very good close-ups for sleeve detail, but
they are short. They are particularly full at the shoulder but
aren't gathered into the the armhole. It's possible they look
full because of the fullness of the undershirt's sleeve. The
hem of the sleeve looks to be edged in - yet again! - a self-fabric
corded tubing.
At the waist is a flat braid trim, simply tacked down, possibly
covering a waist seam.
Centered on the front is large design of embroidery in a silver
white thread - somewhat symbolic/abstract, similar to Peters'.
What this appears to be exactly is hard to tell, but it looks
winged.
His silver velvet cape is edged in a twisted silver cord, bag-lined
in blue/silver silk satin. This is clasped in the front with
a gold medallion emblazoned with a lion's face. Up the back
of the velvet cape is embossed the same wide-spread bird's footprint-like
design, the same as Peter's cape.
